Interfacial fatigue debonding retardation in wrapped composite joints: Experimental and numerical study

چکیده
Debonding crack propagation at the composite-to-steel interface has been found to be an important failure mechanism for wrapped composite joints under static and fatigue loads. Friction behind tip may deviate debonding of from linear-fracture-mechanics behaviour. This paper presents tests axial joints. 3D DIC optical fiber system is employed monitor displacements propagation. A finite element model established validated against test results, where friction considered cracked interface. Through FE modelling, it proved that significantly reduce strain energy release rate (SERR) tip, leading retardations growth stiffness degradation. Parametric study conducted finally investigate influence coefficient, modes as well Paris relationship parameters on predicted behaviour

In this paper the eect of ®nite interface strength, and possible debonding, on the macroscopic response of a sample of ®ber-reinforced composite material is computationally investigated via the ®nite element method. The sample consists of several ®bers embedded in a homogeneous matrix, aligned in the longitudinal direction, and randomly distributed in the transverse direction. Plane strain con...
متن کاملFatigue behaviour of composite adhesive lap joints
This paper is concerned with a fatigue study of composite adhesive lap joints produced from a bi-directional woven E-glass fibres and polypropylene. The adhesive used was a Bostik 7452 (Rubber & Plastics Grade) ethyl cyanoacrylate type. The effects of layer orientation, lap joint length and water immersion on the fatigue behaviour were studied. The specimens were immersed in water during period...
متن کاملDamage Evolution in Composite Bonded Joints under Fatigue Loading
The fatigue behaviour of single lap bonded joints under fatigue loading was already investigated and a suitable life prediction model was presented and validated [1-2]. The model is based on the actual damage evolution under fatigue load: a crack initiation followed by its propagation up to a critical length [2, 3]. In the present paper the evolution of fatigue damage in single lap joints is ex...
